My Holiday Hair Makeover at Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon

Most of you know me as a food blogger, but I guess I wouldn't stick with the blog name The Purple Doll if I wasn't dainty and a girly girl. So instead of sharing something foodgasmic today, let me talk about hair. My hair specifically, and my hair makeover experience at Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon ETON Cyberpod Corinthian branch.

Creations by Lourd Ramos ETON Cyberpod Corinthian

Last December 2013, I received an invitation from my friend Janese to try out the services of Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon at ETON Cyberpod Corinthian. Normally, I'd show a little modesty and will do some pakipot before jumping on the opportunity. However, since my hair needed a makeover really badly, I said yes in a heartbeat.

To be honest, I only go to salons once a year when I need some trimming. Yup! I'm that low maintenance when it comes to hair. You might be wondering how I always have colored hair... Well, for almost 4 years now, I'm proud to say that I've been DIY-ing. I use Prettia, a Japanese bubble hair color brand, and Etude House for my most recent DIY hair color escapade (which left my hair dry and too rust orange-y by the way).

This was what excited me more about trying out Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon. I want to finally have my hair colored by professionals, and see and feel the difference. So on a Wednesday afternoon, I headed to ETON Cyberpod Corinthian.

If you're not familiar, ETON Cyberpod Corinthian is just across Robinsons Galleria.

It didn't take me a while to find Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon inside the building. If I remember it right, it's the only salon in ETON Cyberpod. It sits just beside a snack and milk tea shop. And with bright red seats like these, I'm sure you also won't miss it.

Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon in ETON Cyberpod boasts of a clean, modern, and somehow zen-inspired space. And I really dig that they even made use of lavender, almost light purple curtains amidst the bold hues of red, black and white.

My Hair Makeover Experience

After I was seated, I was asked what I wanted done with my hair. To be completely honest, I had no idea. I just wanted to experience professional hair coloring. Haha! So I told my stylist that he can do the thinking. I'm game with anything -- ombre, bleached, pink hair, even rainbow colored hair. Surprise me! Oh, and just not bald, please?

The owner-creative director, Lourd Ramos himself, wanted to give me an ombre with bleached ends. I can actually imagine it, and I think I'd love it. However, my stylist Mike on the other hand, thought a light blonde with highlights would look more flattering on me.

And since Mike was my stylist for that day, he was the boss of my hair. So highlights it is!

Doing the highlights using the foil weaving technique was actually pretty time-consuming. However, it was the applying of the full head color that posed a little problem for me. Some of the dyed hair kept sticking and stinging the back of my ears. So if you notice on the photo, they placed napkins to protect the back of my ears. #parangdumbolang

Hot Mint Tea at Creations Lourd Ramos Salon Vegetable Miracle Hair Treatment at Creations Lourd Ramos Salon
Hot mint tea; Vegetarian Miracle conditioner and Eyebrow Color
While waiting for the hair dye to set, I was offered a drink. Even if I wanted to have iced tea, I had no choice but to go for hot mint tea since I was coughing my throat out that day.

Next, my hair was shampooed, conditioned, and rinsed. As a bonus, I was given the Vegetarian Miracle Treatment which contains acai oil, grape phytoceuticals, passiflora oil and rice oil that protects and conditions hair. The conditioner with a cooling feel was massaged on my hair, then it was left covered in a plastic wrap for about 10 minutes.

At the same time, my eyebrows were also dyed to match my new hair color.

Sumi and Lourd Ramos at Creations Salon

The fabulous Lourd Ramos was about to leave the salon to check on the other Creations branches. So even if I looked like ET's sibling, I didn't miss the chance for a photo op.

After a few more minutes, the plastic wrap was removed and my hair was blow-dried then styled with soft, bouncy curls. Now, if only I can style my hair this way everyday...

Sumi and Stylist Mike at Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon

Even if I was asking my stylist Mike this and that about hair bleaching, hinting I wanted my hair bleached, I was blown away when I saw what he did to my hair. It's simple and not totally out there, but it was beautiful. Beautifully colored, with beautiful highlights that gave my colored hair more oomph. It was also my first time to get highlights, and I think I won't be missing out on them the next time I get my hair colored in a salon.

WHAT I HAD DONE:
  • Davines Full Head Hair Color
  • Foil Weaving Highlights
  • Eyebrow Color
  • Vegetarian Miracle Treatment
So how was my first hair coloring experience at a salon? Amazing! I think I'll still DIY my hair color if it's just for a single tone. (My stylist Mike was even complimenting how even I had my previous hair color applied.) However, if I want 2-tone or even 3-tone, of course, I'll head over to a salon! (I can't DIY that for the life of me!)

    1. Apir sis! As for me, I have thin hair naman, kaya I don't avail of a lot of salon services except for cutting. But now, I think I'll go back to the salon more often. Maybe instead of once a year, mga twice or thrice naman. ^^

  4. The hair color complements your skin, love it! Sometimes it's hard to pull off that color noh kasi it might look too "loud"? Lourd is fabulous too, I've met him during a Dior makeup workshop..

    1. Actually sis, the lighter the color the better for me. Haha! I guess I have to blame it to my first DIY hair coloring session. I used chiffon beige, a light-medium blonde-ish color, so it has been my benchmark. Anyway, thanks for the compliment, Florence! And yup, Lourd is definitely fab! He's really nice too! :)

  10. So cute Sumi. I love the hair color you have here. BTW this is my first time to know that eyebrows can be dyed color now. All I know it is prohibited before because it can destroy eyesight.

  24. Good you had a good experience at Creations by Lourds, my experience was totally different from yours. I bought a voucher for hair color + some hair treatment. Went to their pasay road branch. Since i thought the salon was reputable i had my hair highlighted also. I asked the supposedly hair expert for the best color combination, i told him i dont want it too dark or blonde color. Well sorry to say it was a big disappointment! My friends didnt even noticed the new color, the highlight was too dark and so uneven... They cannot believe i paid P2,500 for the highlight, it didnt look like an HAIR EXPERT did my hair colors, they thought i did it myself... So very amateurish. If Lourds will charge that much for their services, i hope he makes sure the results will be worth the money.
