Blog Update: New Look, Mobile Responsive, What Else is New?
Hello everyone! If you've been here for a few times already in the recent months, this might not be news to you. However, for those who haven't been here for quite a while, and to first-time stumblers on this blog... The Purple Doll just underwent a design revamp! Hurrah!
I know, I know, I haven't been really consistently pumping out new posts in here since 2016. I guess you can say that I've found myself yet again in a blogging slump. However, for some unknown reason, some time in March of this year, I just thought -- "Why don't I change up my blog's design?" And on that evening, I already began working on a new design and layout.
After a few sleepless nights of coding and troubleshooting and tweaking, The Purple Doll now sports this new look that you see! Ù©(♡ε♡ )Û¶
I don't know what it is with a fresh new look... But the changes on here really helped motivate me to post more. If not for my tight schedule back in April and May, I think I would've written and published a lot of blog posts already!
If you've read this wondering what this post is all about, then I apologize. There really isn't any point to this, except that I just wanted to announce the (not-so) new blog design to make it seem more official. Haha!
Since I traveled to Taiwan and Singapore on April and May, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try my hands on travel blogging. I've already started my Taiwan 2017 Travel Log. Though it might take a while to finish the whole series, since "Gaahhd! Writing even a single travel log post is sooooo tedious!"
I've always respected travel bloggers for all the research and documentation they do. But writing a travel post myself, made me realize that even making a single travel log is so darn hard! There are hundreds, if not thousands, of photos and videos to sort, a long-ass day-to-day account to write, tons of information to cross-check, and probably a lot more aspect I don't even want to know about!
I may seem like I'm just whining, but really, hats off to all the bloggers who write about their travels! No wonder I've been hearing that travel backlogs can easily pile up. With how much hard work they are, I can definitely see how!
If you've looked at the blog homepage, you can definitely see that this blog is still food-centric. I may have been laying low from time to time, but I've been continuously posting restaurant reviews and other food-related posts.
Although there are a lot of new restaurant reviews I'm excited to share, I still have a huge pile of backlogs. Some of them are even remnants from last year. (à© ˃̣̣̥ ã…‚˂̣̣̥)à©ु I know I have no one to blame but myself for not giving them my time of the day. But I hope I manage to pump out backlogs one by one before the year ends, or before they become irrelevant. (Or else they'll really never see daylight.)
To be honest, writing old backlogs is very challenging for me. Apart from not clearly remembering anymore the taste and feeling I had when I ate the dishes, there's also that apathy since the excitement has already expired. I guess I'll have to bear with it, while making sure I don't take too long in posting the newer dining experiences so they don't suffer the same fate.
I know I still have a lot of backlogs to finish before taking on any more plans for this blog. But I feel really excited and pumped to write about more personal topics, especially those that revolve around self-improvement.
Not to brag nor to shame myself, I've gone through some self-improvement journey starting this year. While I know humans change and develop almost every week, month or year, I can proudly say that the improvement I'm yearning now feels more reachable. And whether or not I have the readership for such topics, I still want to write about them. Mainly so I can look back to it in the future, as well as inspire or help others should there be someone who stumbles upon them.
And if you're still reading this post until this point, then I'll let you in on a little something! While I've always been inspired by many people and many things, the turning point for me was when I read a book that I initially was hesitant to even touch. If the photo above hasn't given it away already, yup it's because of Mari Kondo. An amazing channel which I'm glad I've found by chance is Break the Twitch. And another amazing woman who never fails to educate and motivate me is Gauge Girl Training.
Due to my negligence and poor time management, I wasn't able to post a new year greeting back in January. However, let me be the first (or probably the only one) to greet you. Happy Mid-Year! (ノ´ãƒ®´)ノ*:・゚✧
To my long-time readers, casual visitors, and even first-time stumblers, thank you so much for being here. I hope you can find something here on the blog to be of use to you. And despite it being June already, I wish you can find the fresh start that you need. Whether you're like me who found yourself in a slump, or someone that still oozes with enthusiasm, I wish you all the best. May you keep your passion burning!

Travel Posts: A whole new world

Food Blogging: Business as usual

Project Self-Improvement: A new undertaking
