KFC: Colonel Sanders' So Good, So Real Recipes

Wednesday, June 20, 2012
Truth be told, although I love scouting for unconventional and hole-in-the-wall dining destinations, I still can't and won't give up my love for inexpensive yet equally satisfying fast food -- one of which is Kentucky Fried Chicken commonly known as KFC, an American franchise serving the Colonel's Original Recipe Chicken for 45 so good years.
Colonel Sanders Autobiography

Being a big KFC fan, I was delighted to take part in an important event held at Diamond Hotel last May 30. You see, in Louisville, Kentucky, a secret manuscript written by Colonel Harland Sanders himself was discovered. And this prized memento doesn't only contain pages of his life story, it also houses 35 of his most treasured recipes.

The Secret Manuscript

Fortunately, the KFC people are generous enough to share with us their latest discovery. And take note, for free! The iconic Colonel Harland Sanders' autobiography and cookbook is now available online on KFC Philippines' official Facebook page. You can download the whole manuscript, or opt to just browse through some snippets.

There are only limited hardbound copies of the book worldwide. Luckily, I scored one during the event! (Now, I'll just have to follow it up since I haven't received my copy yet.)

With such a wonderful announcement, KFC also invited-in Filipino Celebrity Chef Sharwin Tee from the cooking show Curiosity Got the Chef to create his version of the Colonel's Hush Puppies -- one of the never-before-seen recipes from the manuscript.

The Food Served

Of course, such an event calls for good food. And to start off the lunch, we had some treats from KFC -- a bucket of Original Recipe Chicken and a carton each of the new Original Recipe Chicken Bites (P70), 5 bite-sized pieces of real chicken with the same eleven secret herbs and spices that make up the world-famous KFC Original Recipe.

After the KFC-licious start, we also had a 4-course meal prepared by Diamond Hotel. I won't be getting into much detail about the food they served in the event. But rest assured, everything was flavorful and satisfying both for the palate and for the tummy.

KFC's 45 So Good Years

With Colonel Sanders' So Good, So Real Recipes and the newly-launched Original Recipe Chicken Bites, you think things can't get any better. But since it's KFC Philippines' 45th anniversary, they bring us another good news. The Fully Loaded Meal Treat promo is extended until June 25. So if you haven't yet, feast on KFC’s Original Recipe Chicken, soup, mashed potato, brownie, and a drink for just Php 111, and enjoy a P72 discount from ala carte prices -- the biggest discount by KFC to date.

On a side note, we just ordered a KFC Bucket Meal with Brownies (P585) for the family yesterday. And although my dad isn't a fan of fast food, especially when he has to eat it for dinner, he surprisingly loves KFC's Hot & Crispy Chicken!

How about you, are you a KFC fan too?
