Bar Dolci: Quiche, Gelatos, Macarons + Giveaway #6!

It was last year when I first discovered Bar Dolci in Burgos Circle, The Fort. And while the area is not really that accessible for someone living in the far north such as me, it's not a reason not to crave for the heavenly macarons and gelatos I got to try the last time.

And speaking of gelatos, I recently got to try a new snack creation from Bar Dolci. It's their Gelato Burger made from their own blend of gelatos sandwiched in a special bread. While this strongly reminded me of those days when I'd enjoy some ice cream sandwiched in monay (Filipino bread rolls), these Gelato Burgers are definitely better.

During our visit, my friend and I got to try their Salted Caramel Gelato Burger (P120) which was a really nice snack and dessert in one. The salty and sweet gelato flavor went great with the soft and creamy bread. However, as much as this ensemble tasted good, there was another particular combination that won over my palate and my heart.

It's this Buko Pandan Gelato Burger (P120)! I'm not sure if I haven't shared this bit about me yet, but I am crazy for buko pandan. While I would prefer actual buko shreds and pandan jellies, I found this particular gelato flavor very enjoyable. It was light and highly refreshing, with a creaminess that goes perfectly with Bar Dolci's special bread.

Aside from the obvious that I love the gelatos at Bar Dolci, one thing I really like about their Gelato Burgers is the bread itself. They may look plain, but they're really soft and creamy that I can even enjoy them on their own. From what I know, these are house-made and they don't just serve the burgers by placing the gelatos in between the buns. They use a sandwich toaster of sort to warm the bread through while creating a delicate crunch on the crust. Oh, and while the Gelato Burger is greatly dependent on preference, the adventurous can try their new flavor -- Rum Truffle, while the health conscious ones might appreciate any among their lines of Sugar-Free gelatos.

Another new and great snack item at Bar Dolci are their Quiche offerings which are European open-faced savory custard pies often eaten for breakfast. And among four of the available flavors, we first got to try the Quiche Lorraine (P180) which is the most popular classic quiche variant made with generous amount of bacon and cheese.

While I love the blend of bacon, cheese and creamy custard in the Quiche Lorraine, it was the Spinach and Bacon Quiche (P180) that really got me digging in. I guess I'm just biased towards the combination of spinach, bacon, sour cream and custard as it has a more complex yet harmonious flavor -- salty, savory, sweet and a little bitter and sour.

Both my friend and I were already so stuffed, but we just can't leave the place without grabbing a few bites off their Macarons (P50 each), so we had the Pistachio, Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter, Ferrero, Dark Chocolate and the new flavor, Biscotino. Just like the first time, sinking my teeth into these heavenly creations was magical. The meringue was so light with a delicate crisp on the outside and a moist, slight chewiness on the inside. Even my friend actually had a moment with the macarons!
