Daily Quickie: Spam Musubi & Winter Melon Alisan Tea

Saturday, February 11, 2012
Daily Quickie will be a short tag on the title which I'll use for blog entries about food I'm snacking at home, work or anywhere.

I don't usually buy food items that I can easily whip up at home. However, Spam Jam is an exception. I don't remember when I first fell in love with this food kiosk, but ever since I've tried their Spam Musubi (P48), I always make sure to buy a piece or two when I see a branch.

Spam Jam

Last Thursday after doing some shopping in SM Megamall, I made sure to stop by at Spam Jam to have a quick snack. Honestly, I've never tried anything else from their menu except the Spam Musubi -- a grilled slice of Spam pressed atop a block of flavored rice, and wrapped around with nori. I felt like I can easily replicate a Spam burger, sandwich or better yet, Spam with rice.

Spam Musubi

Don't expect a highly intricate flavor on this Hawaiian delicacy though. It's just good ol' Spam with flavored rice, one which taste similar to a savory garlic fried rice. I love it nonetheless as it is easy to eat, tastes good and can definitely fill you up. But being a hefty eater, one is not enough.

Spam Jam offers their Spam Musubi and other food items with a choice of either iced tea or lemonade. But I already got myself a medium drink from Gong Cha, a cup of my new favorite -- Winter Melon Alisan Tea (P70). Some find it quite unethical to bring in a third-party food item in another food store. However, this drink is just so tasty that I didn't want to miss savoring every sip!

I really like how the Winter Melon Alisan Tea is very clean-tasting and sweet at the same time. The winter melon flavor is really evident, but not too overpowering. For tea lovers who wished Gong Cha's Milk Winter Melon Tea taste more like tea than milk, then give their Winter Melon Alisan Tea a try soon.

How about you? Do you have a favorite food kiosk? Let me know 'cause I'd love to give it a try too. Anyway, happy weekend everyone!

  3. @michymichymoo: Hahaha.. We have Spam din at home.. XD Kaya I buy the Spam Musubi lang. Yun di ko kayang gayahin eh XD

@passive income: Hmm.. I'm not so sure though. It could work 'cause Spam Jam has quite a lot of patrons here. But if Spam in Singapore is already a household name, it'd be a problem.

  7. I am just really curios about Spam Musubi, when you remove the plastic wrapping and you took a bit, would the rice wouldn't fall? haha

  8. @dynamicdiana: They use Japanese rice, I think, so it would be sticky enough to be molded. No worries of rice falling apart here ;)

  9. I don't have a fave food kiosk but I'll consider this one. Having a cost like that seems economical. Will buy three! :)

  10. I've tried their spam musubi kaya lang luma yata yung naibigay samin kasi iba na yung lasa ng rice. Tinapon ko lang tuloy.

  11. @anney: Ay sayang naman.. >.< That's the problem lang with the Spam Musubi at Spam Jam. They're not cooked upon ordering, unlike the Spam sandwiches and rice meals.
