OOTD: Denim Day Out

Wednesday, February 25, 2015
Psst! Let me share with you a secret... Although I've been most comfortable wearing bottoms that cover my legs, it's actually been six years since the last time I wore denim jeans! Yup, you read that right! I've always loved jeans, but I was one of those girls who couldn't find the perfect pair for my pear-shaped body. If I attempt to wear jeans based on my waistline, I can bet that it wouldn't go past my thighs. And if I choose a bigger size that snugly fits my thighs, then you can probably imagine how that would look like for my waist. #SakoNaKungSako

For years, after discovering my thighs couldn't fit into my jeans anymore, I've only enjoyed the company of leggings and jeggings. Whoever invented the jeggings is a life-saver! \(*T▽T*)/ You get the look of denim jeans, while having the perfect, skinny and stretchy fit of leggings.

However, as one who lives with a principle of trying things at least twice (Of course, if it's illegal or you know it's bad, don't try it at all!), I decided to give real, legit denim jeans another shot...

Denim Day Out 02

From one of my favorite brands that indulges me with ultra-comfortable jeggings, I found out that I can also actually wear their jeans. This brand of Japanese lifestyle wear never ceases to amaze me. I've only been buying their jeggings since they opened their first store in the Philippines. But after recently fitting their P1,990 jeans (They have a wide variety, btw!), I've now become a convert! Oh, and If you haven't guessed it yet, then here it is -- Uniqlo.

For someone who hasn't worn denim jeans in a very long time, I actually found myself very comfortable. I'm not sure if other brands have already upped their denim game, but Uniqlo has really impressed me with their quality. And how can I now mention it -- comfort!

Uniqlo has different kinds of jeans -- regular slim fit, ankle length slim fit, slim fit boyfriend, skinny fit, regular ultra stretch, ankle length ultra stretch, and selvage. Mine was their ankle length slim fit.

TRIVIA: Uniqlo jeans are 2 sizes bigger. So if you're normally size 29, go for their size 27. And if you're size 27, go for their size 25. Way to boost our confidence in buying jeans, Uniqlo! ~ヾ(^∇^)

I've even put this denim jeans to the test! Commuted for over an hour, watched a 2-hour long movie, ate my heart out at an Italian restaurant, and even played bowling -- I did all those while wearing this pair. And I can't even begin to tell you how comfortable I was! Actually, just look at my OOTD photos... I wouldn't be able to sit on the floor if the jeans were stiff.

After this recent discovery, I can confidently say that you'll see more of me in demin jeans. Of course, I still love my jeggings! But I now know that even pear-shapes (pear-shaped shorty, in my case) can enjoy the look and feel of denim jeans. No more suman (too tight on the thighs) and sako (too loose on the waist) looks, and other denim jean woes. °˖ ✧◝(○ ヮ ○)◜✧˖ °

How about you? Any denim jean woes you'd care to share? Or maybe you know of another great brand of denim jeans? Share them with me, 'cause I'd love to hear more about it! ♡

    1. True! That's actually why I stopped wearing jeans before. I needed bigger-sized jeans 'cause of my bigger thighs, and I'm just not comfortable moving around. Even with a belt, the waist area just feels to loose and weird.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll find a perfect pair at Uniqlo! I'm actually planning to go back again soon and try on other types of jeans. Hihi~ :D And yes, pear shapes UNITE!!! <3

  4. I have the same problem with jeans that's why I "live" in leggings and jeggings. Plus being "plus sized" in the Philippines really poses a big problem. Haha. Glad you found a solution to your problem!

  7. I love uniqlo jeans too, and they're pretty affordable as well! But I didn't know they're 2 sizes bigger though. It was consistent for me with my other jeans.

  8. Another thing about leggings/jeans is that I never dare to go for light colours! Because somehow they get dirtied easily and make my thighs look even bigger (Yes, I'm pear shape too!)
