Bo's Coffee: Coffee, Tea and Halloween Cookie

Saturday, November 05, 2011
SM Mall of Asia has been my go-to mall for several years now. I have strolled inside its main atrium, explored its entertainment mall, and enjoyed the scenic sunset at the San Miguel by the Bay. However although I have dined countless times at different restaurants and chilled at various cafés, there are a lot of food and beverage establishments that I often pass by but have ignored. One of them is Bo's Coffee which I have been meaning to try for quite a while already.

Bo's Coffee is located in SM Mall of Asia's entertainment mall, beside the hard-to-miss activity area, and in front of Dolce Gelato -- one of my ultimate favorite Gelato stalls. So for the 4 years I have been going to MoA, it's funny how I have never tried Bo's Coffee.. Not until now.

It was last Friday that we got to try Bo's Coffee. We were in the area waiting for the start of Lee's National Denim Day for Philippine Fashion Week. And what can people who came 2 hours earlier do? Yes, chill first and let time pass in a coffee shop.

Halloween Cookie, Passion Fruit Iced Tea and Chocolate Chip Froccino Primo
Instead of ordering coffee though, I got a freshly brewed Passion Fruit Iced Tea. Don't get me wrong, I like coffee as much as I like tea. However, I was really thirsty then and I personally find iced tea more refreshing than iced coffee. My date on the other hand, ordered a Chocolate Chip Froccino Primo -- a blended iced coffee beverage topped with whipped cream.

We paid for the drinks first and sat comfortably on their couch. And when the drinks and our change were served, it came with a Halloween cookie. Apparently, they were having a Halloween promo from October 22 to November 5 -- complimentary cookie for a minimum P250 single-receipt purchase.

Both my date and I enjoyed the drinks we ordered. I very much liked the clean and refreshing taste of their Passion Fruit Iced Tea. It was tangy yet sweet. My date found his Chocolate Chip Froccino Primo rich and a chocolate-y blend of coffee, although he still finds The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's ice blended coffee better. The Halloween cookie was quite good, except for the overly sweet hard candy frosting though. We don't need to complain, I know, it's free anyway.

Interesting wallpaper giving off that romantic cozy feel
Aside from the nice cold beverages they serve, one thing I like about Bo's Coffee is their cozy interior. I know big coffee shops are already known for this, and good thing Bo's Coffee isn't lagging behind.

THE VERDICT

Although we have only tried 2 items from Bo's Coffee's wide menu of beverages, we can say that they are faring well taste-wise. Prices of their drinks are also reasonable -- about a hundred bucks for a large cup of iced drink. The staff in the shop were also friendly and accommodating. They helped us choose what drinks we might like from their beverage selection. Lastly, they have a nice and cozy interior perfect for people who wants to kill time, as well as those who would hangout and catch up with friends.

Overall, we had a pleasant time at Bo's Coffee -- a shop I'll never dare ignore the next time we visit the area.

Taste - 4/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Price - 4/5
Overall Value - 4/5

  1. I miss bo's. We used to hang out there whenever we walk our pets to MOA. Now, I've been so busy I hardly walk them out. I love their coffee crumble. Its the only iced coffee with coffee chunks. It's nice of them to give a free cookie treat. =)

  2. Cheesecakes at Bo's are the best! I used to hand out at their branch near the office during lunchtime whenever I had to study for my graduate school exams. I'm not much of a fan of their drinks, though. =)

  3. Frankenstein cookie!!! Sooo cute!

I haven't tried Bo's Coffee before. I'm more of a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf gal. But that iced tea looks and sounds refreshing.

  4. we've tried bo's coffee before in their branch in glorietta and my wife and i, being coffee-lovers, didn't like their blends, sorry. it was far from our expectation to the fact that our cups tasted like only 3-in-1; not value for money, we think.
or perhaps, we're only biased to starbucks coffee and yes, cbtl! :)

the frankenstein cookie freebie though was indeed a welcome treat for you!

ps : i just posted the continuation of my post with the buffet spread; come, take a peek! :)

  14. Hi Sumi, dropping by from GT. Been a lurker of your blog for months. I love your foodie posts.:) It's nice you finally got to try Bo's. I'm not particularly choosy when it comes to coffee so I have no complaints regarding their selection. But I have yet to try their cakes. Maybe one of these days.:)
