Beauty Tips + Win Tickets to Katy Perry’s Concert

Before 2011 ends, I wouldn't want my blog to be left empty when it comes to beauty-related posts so I'll be sharing something that many of you can probably relate to.

Acne, pimples, zits or whatever you want to call it, has been a big problem for teens in the puberty stage. As for my case, I was a very early bloomer so I already got zits as early as 10 years old. Little by little, these unwanted imperfections doubled and tripled in number. So when I reached high school, my face was already full of them. When I got to college, there was a short phase when my skin cleared up and I gained my self confidence back. But due to the stresses and many sleepless nights, my face ceased to stay smooth.

Battling acne is very difficult especially for people like me who have sensitive skin. I got into modeling stints but had to lay low because my skin would have sudden breakouts. I've tried tons of products and I almost gave up. Luckily, my skin finally got clearer but it wasn't until the latter part of my university days that I gained a brighter face. I know my skin now is not flawless enough to be strutted everywhere. But I am already happy and contented as it is not as dreadful as it used to be. I can now look at the mirror without feeling sorry for myself and I'm not afraid to smile at the camera anymore. Believe it or not, there came a time where I didn't want any photos of myself taken. That's how severe of an acne case my face got into.

I may not be an expert when it comes to skin, but I'd like to share some beauty tips to help prevent acne on people who have nice and clear skin, and to help stop making acne worse for people who are still suffering from this common beauty problem.

1. Keep a clean face.
This is already a given. Both the blessed people who have clear skin as well as the acne-prone gals (even guys) like me, need to cleanse the face (ideally) twice everyday. It is recommended to wash the face with a mild facial cleanser in warm water to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from the skin surface. Exfoliating can also help make your face have a youthful glow, so try to use mild facial scrubs once or twice a week. And even when you are regularly cleaning your face, always remember to refrain from touching it if unnecessary as this will only spread bacteria.

2. Tone, Moisturize and Protect.
If you're not sure that you've cleansed your face thoroughly, a toner may help remove all the remaining traces of oil, make-up and dirt. Some people use toners, but others believe a good cleanser can cover for what toners do. So it's really up to you. However, I personally use toners and I love it. After toning (or cleansing if you don't want to use toners), it's best to use a moisturizer. Even if you have oily skin, you'll still need to moisturizer as the drier the skin gets, the more likely it will produce more oils which can cause acne. Using sunblock during the day time is also a must. It will protect your skin from sun damage which cannot only cause acne, but premature wrinkles.

3. Drink plenty of water.
Water is a miracle fluid. It keeps the body hydrated while flushing away toxins. Although drinking water alone will not cure acne, having plenty of this can help give you a clear and glowing skin.

4. Eat more yellow foods.
Grease-full and junk foods do not directly promote acne. However, it is still best to avoid them and pack on healthier foods instead -- yellow foods for that matter. These yellow fruits and veggies like carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe and spinach (Okay, this one is not really yellow or orange but more green.) contains high amounts of beta-carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A which promotes clearer skin.

5. Exercise regularly.
Exercise is not only good for the mind and body, but also for the skin. It boosts blood flow in the body and promote sweating which is a good way to remove our bodies' toxins. Working out can also lessen our anxiety keeping us away from stress which can cause hormonal imbalances that can trigger acne breakouts.

If all else fail, you can try over-the-counter acne products.
Although I'd prefer a more natural approach to preventing and treating acne, moderate to severe acne can get help by using topical acne products. Most of the creams and gels available contain salicylic acid, an agent that sloughs off skin and gets rid of bacteria. Another effective acne treating ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial agent with a drying effect.

One of the most effective benzoyl peroxide acne treatment solution today is Proactiv, the #1 leading anti-acne system in the United States. I was actually quite surprised that they have a kiosk already in Trinoma. Apparently, they are now available locally as they have setup kiosks in several malls nationwide. They are also even made more accessible as they are now in all Watsons Stores and SM Department stores.

This acne-fighting system also has the New Proactiv which is designed to work faster and gentler, easily penetrating the skin so the benzoyl peroxide goes directly to the target area without having to stay on the surface of the skin. Thus, it lessens the rate of dryness and redness that is associated with benzoyl peroxide.

To further prove the New Proactiv's effectiveness when it comes to fighting pimples, it offers a money-back guarantee for both its 30-day and 60-day kits. This is definitely a really good feat!

If you're interested in purchasing a set of the New Proactiv from any Watson stores, make sure to use this discount voucher to get P150 off when you buy a Proactiv Solution 30-day kit, and P300 off when you buy a Proactiv Solution 60-day kit. This promo is valid until January 31, 2012, and also note that when you print this, the barcode must be readable as these will be scanned by the cashier’s point of sale machine.

Proactiv also boasts of its new endorser, Katy Perry who is an international music artist, as she joins fellow Hollywood celebrities like Mandy Moore, Avril Lavigne and the pop heart throb, Justin Bieber as the New Face of Proactiv. Katy Perry has started getting acne from stress and lack of sleep when she started doing world tours and road shows. This made her self confidence dip down low. Acne, like what it does to any normal person, made her vulnerable and limited her confidence. So being a real person, she believed that she has to tell her story to her fans that there is a solution to acne and that’s Proactiv. She now uses the New Proactiv with micro crystal benzoyl peroxide to fight back acne and maintain a clear skin.
To celebrate Katy Perry's now clearer and radiantly glowing skin, Proactiv is giving its patrons and new buyers a chance to win Titanium tickets to Katy Perry’s Concert at Mall of Asia! 13. The led tv price in pakistan is just as diverse as the functions they provide. Depending on the manufacturer, screen size, and quality, smart TVs may vary in price from low-cost models to expensive ones. Entry-level LED TVs with basic features appropriate for any home may be purchased for as little as PKR 20,000.
