Coloud The Knock Headphones + Giveaway #5!

Aside from being a food lover, I'm also very much into music. And for a while now, I've been faced with the problem of looking for great headphones without hurting my pocket. I know, if I'm really that much into music, I should be ready to spend thousands. However, after discovering Coloud, who said great value can't come with a friendly price tag?

Coloud may not easily ring a bell, but this Swedish brand has recently arrived in the Philippines with three products in tow -- The Boom, The Knock, and The Pop. Despite Coloud's simplicity in design, this brand sure knows what true music lovers need -- functionality, reliability and durability, with a bonus of affordability. You won't see huge logos, funny gimmicks nor unnecessary details in Coloud headphones. Consider it minimalist, but it's just you and your Coloud, always ready to play when you are.

THE KNOCK

There are three kinds of Coloud headphones to specifically fit your lifestyle and your needs. And for me, I found that The Knock is definitely my kind of headphones.

The Knock is an ultra lightweight headphone which doesn't only fit like a dream, but is also very durable. It adjusts at the right part of the band, and doesn't seem to be too tight nor too loose for my head. I've been using it for 3 weeks already, and never did I feel uncomfortable even with hours of wearing it. It also hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear even with my long hours and daily use. I think the only problem I'm seeing are the pads on the ear pieces. Don't get me wrong, they make using The Knock very comfortable. However, I think these pads can tear easily when not properly cared for.

As for sound quality, I have nothing but praises for The Knock. It might not block all outside noise (which is good for me, since I need to somehow hear when my mom or sister is calling me), but its sound performance is at par with more expensive headphone brands. I'm a big fan of Japanese Electro-Pop, J-Pop and J-Rock, and every track I listened to using The Knock sounded crisp and alive. I got to hear vibrant details on all frequencies, and the bass is just impressive. It's not in-your-face deep, but it's prominent without being overpowering. And since The Knock sounded amazing even on Perfume's and Tokyo Jihen's tracks, you can just imagine how wonderful other genres sounded.

Now, I didn't get to personally use both The Boom and The Pop nor have them unboxed since I reserved these two for a giveaway, but here's an overview about them.

THE BOOM

Based from the Coloud website, The Boom is a rough-and-ready type of headphone designed for comfort and listening pleasure. It blocks all outside noise, leaving you in your own musical world. It also provides more depth in bass, hence its name, The Boom.

Like The Knock, it also has adjustable headband to perfectly fit on all head sizes. Unlike The Knock though, The Boom only has wire on one ear piece. It also has cans on both ear pieces to completely cover the ears.

THE POP

To complete the set, we have The Pop. Unlike both The Boom and The Knock, this one is an in-ear type of headphones. Personally, I'm not a big fan of in-ear phones since I don't find it too comfortable to stick something inside my ear. To each his own. However, this seems to be the perfect pair for music lovers who are always on-the-go.

The Pop is defined on the Coloud website as a highly-durable headphone with a direct sound and powerful bass. Being in-ear, it promises to eliminate any noise pollution around you so you can focus on your music. To better cater every user, The Pop has 3 sets of caps in small, medium and large for a perfect fit and also has angled ear buds.

THE COMMON FEATURES

Despite being different with the style, use and features, all three Coloud headphones have commonalities. First among them is the microphone and 3-click remote.

• 1 Click: Play, Pause, Answer or Hang Up
• 2 Clicks: Next/Forward
• 3 Clicks: Previous/Rewind

Second among their common features is the flat cable which lessens the chance of your wires getting tangled. It looks more sleek too, and somehow reminds me of fettuccine pasta. (Okay, the foodie in me is kicking in!) Third is Coloud's patented Zound Lasso which you can conveniently use to tie up your cables in place when the headphones are not in use. It's more preferable to round up the cable and lock with the Zound Lasso, but the picture above shows how I like to tie up my cables. (Yes, I tie all my cables that way, even computer wires, and chargers.)

I don't know if you'll consider this an actual feature, but all three of the Coloud headphones come in triangular plastic packaging which I personally find really sleek and original. All of them also come in color-blocking styles. Mine were in white and red.

Of course, the most important common features among The Boom, The Knock, and The Pop is their functionality, reliability, durability and affordability. I may have not used the other two headphones, but with The Knock which I've already used for 3 weeks and still counting, I can vouch for the quality of both The Boom and The Pop.
