8 Easy Tips to Stay Fit in Winter

Friday, January 27, 2017
We all have our favorite seasons. Some of us prefer romantic and dim autumn. Others give their heart to sunlit and warm summer. And we shouldn’t forget those who like the energizing yet unstable spring. But it’s winter now, and the perfect time has come to relax and lay in bed for hours, eating chips and drinking hot chocolate. It’s basically the best leisure when it’s snowing outside and you don’t want to leave your house.

But how can you motivate yourself to get fit? Or even just maintain?

It’s exceedingly easy to pass on the #fitness with the season. And yeah, getting a great body shape can become a more complicated assignment than it needs to be. That is why we decided to gather the best pieces of advice to help you stay fit in winter. And no, we're not going to talk about gym instructions – you better hire a professional trainer if you want to take advantage of gym training because online recommendations won’t suffice.

Whether you want to get fit or stay fit as a new year's resolution, or just a step to make your life better, then listen up! You might even get a new man in your life if you're a single girl. Or if you're a guy, this might even lead you to date Ukrainian girls!

1. Find a perfect motivation.

Yes, just like that. We cannot decide on this for you, because you are the only one who knows your aspirations and dreams. But remember that the best reason to work on your body remains to be the infinite search of inner harmony, which can only be sought with a healthier body.

2. Explore yourself.

Fuzzy winter sweaters are comfortable, without doubts. But right now, you should lose all your clothes and stand in front of a full-length mirror to learn about your own body (if you haven't yet). First, you need to understand which parts look great to you, and which could be improved. Knowing your own body is essential to get fit!

3. Get some sun.

Many people experience severe depressions during wintertime and often blame the weather condition for that. However, most of them are just affected by the absence of sunlight. Yes, the daytime is much shorter, but if you see there's sunshine – just go outside for a stroll. It’s the best mood booster!

4. Find a workout class.

Most of those who want to get fit are easily stopped by the embarrassment they experience training alongside professional athletes in a gym. If you are one of them, we suggest you find a private workout class like Pilates, Crossfit, or whichever you prefer. Don’t be embarrassed! We have all have been there and the beginning of the road is never easy.

5. Set a spring goal.

Yeah, we know that the summer body is the ultimate goal for everyone. But summer isn’t coming soon while spring is almost there! Make a goal to look the way you want by March. It’s much easier to get a perfect beach body if you achieved some results in winter. Make sure though to take advantage of having smaller milestones, so you can stay motivated to reach the end goal.

6. Take advantage of winter activities.

There’s this popular modern misconception that getting fit is only possible at the gym. Winter provides numerous ways to develop your body e.g. snow skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding among others. In the end, it’s a lot of fun, especially in a sunny and snowy day. Don’t forget to enjoy your life!

7. Forget about baggy and comfy clothes.

It’s a huge temptation to eat another slice of pizza and “forget” about your stretching classes when you know that your huge sweater will cover a pound or two gained because of endless laziness. Well, if you get a skin-tight short or extra skinny jeans that fit you perfectly, you will not even think about eating more than you need. Oh, and get a new training gear! They make a lot of flawless sports clothing these days.

8. Give up bad habits.

It’s easier to give up on eating and drinking when you don’t see your friends so often and don’t visit bars and restaurants so frequently. However, in winter, it's mostly on you. Be more conscious of your food choices, or even snack choices, instead of curling up on the couch eating chips all night. If you find yourself waking up whenever you want and staying in bed however long you desire - give up on that and never get back to it again! Having a schedule doesn't only make you more productive but is also good for your mind, body and overall well-being. Pinpoint what bad habits you have and make a change.

Getting fit, or even staying fit in winter is a bit more challenging. But it can be done! Don't put all the blame in the winter season. It didn't eat all those bags of junk food. It didn't tell you to stay all day in bed and skip on your cardio. Take control even if it's a little tough! Because you can get the body you want, whatever the season.
