Daily Quickie: Jollibee's Crisscut Fries

Saturday, August 11, 2012
Daily Quickie is a short tag on the title which I use for blog entries about food I'm snacking at home, work or anywhere.

Hey friends, how was your week? I hope it has been safe and dry now. As for me, it was quite grueling since Monday. I was stranded in Monumento, Caloocan City for over an hour. Good thing Jollibee at Victory Mall was still open to serve both hungry diners and stuck commuters. And while I was waiting for the flood to subside, what better way to pass time than to finally give their new Crisscut Fries (P33 Regular; P51 Large) a try.
Jollibee Crisscut Fries Barbecue

Unlike McDonald's Twister Fries, Jollibee's new take on our fave potato side dish comes in two flavors, Savory BBQ and Zesty Cheese. And for my first try, I ordered the barbecue flavor. It might be bizarre, but I didn't associate the Crisscut Fries to real fries upon first bite. I thought it was more like a crisscut hash brown. And honestly, I quite like it even though a few people have already stated their dislike for this potato snack. They're crunchy and slightly chewy with a hint of heat and a dash of barbecue flavoring.

Thank God I was able to arrive home safely that night. Unfortunately though, our electricity got cut off the next day for two days. We didn't have internet connection too, until now actually, as I'm just using a plug-it to take a quick peek to the world wide web. Anyhow, yesterday I decided to order the cheese flavored one for delivery. Like the barbecue variant, this one's a little spicy even with the cheese flavoring powder. However, I think I prefer the Zesty Cheese over the Savory BBQ a wee bit.

If you'll ask me to compare McDonald's Twister Fries with Jollibee's Crisscut Fries head to head, I'd say I prefer the twister fries a little bit more. Though honestly, I'd choose Jollibee's if only they didn't put flavoring powder into the mix.

How about you, which do you like? McDonald's Twister Fries or Jollibee's Crisscut Fries?

    1. Anything freshly cooked is better.. ^^ I can't imagine how soggy or even makunat the crisscut fries would be if they're not from a fresh batch.

Yue doesn't like this either because of the flavoring. Too pungent for his little tastebuds.

  29. I love potatoes! But it's been a while since I last ate a french fry (the oil..hihi), and I haven't tried the crisscut yet. I love both fries though, but I discovered a long time ago that Mc Donald's fries has a lot of preservatives compared to Jollibee's. :)

  41. I love the Crisscut's latest reincarnation in Sour Cream. As far as I'm concerned, Jollibee can do away with everything on its menu except for the Sour Cream Crisscut Fries. Lol. Addict much?
