Green Tomato & Angelati Italia: A Heavenly Combo

I love eating pasta dishes and I'm always on the lookout for good yet affordable Italian restaurants. So after reading several raves on different forums, we didn't hesitate to dine at Green Tomato the moment we saw it in Shangri-la Plaza.

There were only a few people dining at Shangri-la Plaza's 6th floor during that Sunday afternoon. When we went near the restaurant's area, the waiter promptly attended to us and accompanied us to our table. The menu was overwhelming since there were a lot of choices in their pasta selection. And our server was kind enough to help us pick out our pasta choice. He shared with us a few of Green Tomato's best sellers -- Sundried Pesto and Shrimp Salsa Penne and Pepperoni and Onions Spaghetti.

Sundried Pesto and Shrimp Salsa Penne (P280)

Pepperoni and Onions Spaghetti (P210)

Both pasta dishes were of generous portion for a solo serving. The pasta were al dente and the sauces were both tasty. I especially like how simple yet flavorful the Pepperoni and Onions Spaghetti was. The Sundried Pesto and Shrimp Salsa Penne on the other hand, also delivered a delicious flavor.

After finishing our pasta, our server suggested Angelati Italia gelato as dessert. Being a lover of anything sweet, I didn't hesitate to order one. Both my date and I went to check the gelato chiller to choose what interests us. After a minute, we decided to go with Pure Pistachio and Orange Chocolate.

Pure Pistachio Gelato (P90)

Orange Chocolate Gelato (P70)

I love how the Pure Pistachio flavor really tastes like Pistachio, while the Orange Chocolate flavor on the other hand is one blissful treat as it is a perfect blend of dark chocolate and orange. Both gelato flavors are creamy and rich in flavor, a really nice dessert after a good pasta dish.

THE VERDICT

I love the pasta dishes we ordered from Green Tomato. Taste-wise and portion-wise, I personally think Green Tomato is a worthy eat. The servers were attentive and very courteous too. However, I have to note that it took quite a while and a follow-up before our pasta choices were served. But aside from that, the service was good.

Angelati Italia's gelato within Green Tomato is a really good bonus for me. After a hearty Italian meal, a nice and flavorful gelato is truly a heavenly meal ender. And after experiencing this tasty combo, I will surely be back for more.
